DanceSport, Again

DanceSport came around again this last week.  I competed in the Silver Rumba and the Gold Samba events.  We made it to the quarterfinals of both, although that was only the second round of the Samba - there were only four rounds total of that one.  The quarters of the Rumba were the 4th round.  This was actually my second time in both of those competitions since it's my second time in that class.  Last time we made it to the second round of  both, so I made progress in the Rumba.  I was also pretty happy to make it past the first round of the Samba again since my partner and I are technically only at the Silver level.

Enough about me, though.  I also had a lot of fun watching the other events.  This was actually the U.S. National Amateur DanceSport Championships, so people came from all over the country to compete in the Amateur events (I was just in class events).  There are some really good dancers and amazing costumes and a lot of just plain fun.  There is also a "Battle of the Champions" where three professional couples come and compete.  I forgot who two of the couples were, but the couple that won was Roman and Anna (see my previous entry).  I told you they were amazing.

I also love watching the formation teams compete.  One of my favorites was a team that did a Latin Medley to Michael Jackson songs, and they even threw in some of Jackson's choreography, including Thriller.  It was awesome.  The cabaret numbers are also always amazing to watch.  Here's the one that won this year:
